Weekly Wrap Up, Russia Week 2

This week, thanks to Carl Faberge, I got to teach the kids how to blow eggs.

We learned that good old Carl made the first imperial Easter egg for one of the czars, and little did anyone know then, just how popular they would become!  Brianna, especially, liked searching Google Images for pictures of them.  There are some really amazing ones out there!

You, um, have to blow carefully, so as to not taste raw egg.

Jack Jack needed a bit of help with making the holes in his.

But he did the painting and glittering all by himself.

We pulled up a performance of a piece by Tchaikovsky on YouTube and watched that together, and excerpts of the movie, Families of Russia, which are also available on YouTube.

Eli decided that the best part about blowing eggs was getting to make himself "brunch" in the middle of school.  I think he's part Hobbit.  He would happily eat several more times a day.

Brianna offered up her collection of "jewels" for our eggs.

He has a very expressive face.  This was his response to "Smile with teeth!"

Now we're looking forward to starting Australia.

Can't believe there's only 4 more weeks of school!

They're going to be great ones.

  2. Hi! I found your comment on my blog. I'd love to share our story of our son with you. :) It's fun to meet other adoptive parents. You're getting two at a time? How exciting! And challenging! But from the looks of your blog, you are a pro at this parenting thing. :) We just have one, but hope to have more some day; God just hasn't made it possible as of yet. I'll look you up on facebook; that's usually a good way to connect for me. :)
